The Advisory Committee of the Native Peoples Forum began meeting in the Spring of 2006 and has developed a membership more than 17 faculty members and more than thirty staff members, students, and representatives of community organizations. With the help of a grant from the NYU Humanities Council and donations from Tisch School of the Arts, Graduate School of Arts and Science, and the office of the Vice Provost for Diversity, E. Francis White, eight events and activities have been conducted, and several more are planned. The group has established working relationships the American Indian Community House and the National Museum of the American Indian. The founding director of the organization was Professor T. James Matthews.
